Welcome
to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lansing's new website!
This
is the new online home of BBBS of Greater Lansing. Thank
you for your interest in our agency. Feel free to look
around and begin the process of putting some magic into the
life of a child and yourself!
Big
Brothers Big Sisters has been the nation's pre-eminent youth
mentoring organization for 100 years. We have proven success
in creating and nurturing positive relationships that benefit
everyone involved, including the volunteer, the child, families,
and the community.
Through
our programs, each year over 500 children in our community
have the opportunity to have an adult friend and positive
role model in their lives. The proven benefits these
children receive are astounding. The many "little moments"
spent with their mentors help the boys and girls reach their
fullest potential and grow into caring, confident, competent
adults. In addition, BBBS of America is one of the ten
on the 2003 "Gold-Star List" named by Forbes Magazine
after a survey of 200 nonprofits, rated by how efficiently
they collect and distribute dollars. Join us in creating
Little Moments and Big Magic!
Join
us at our Fourth Annual Wine Tasting and Auction at the Temple
Club in Old Town Lansing
This year we will celebrate the magic of Old Town by gathering
at the Temple Club for wine, hors d'oeuvres, and a silent
auction including art from Old Town galleries. Proceeds
from this important event directly benefit Big Brothers Big
Sisters of Greater Lansing. This year's event will be
on Thursday, March 4, 2004, from 6:30-8:30 pm. Tickets
are $30 and can be purchased by calling (517) 372-0160 or
toll-free at (877) 483-7145. Hope to see you there!
It's
not about bowling! Bowl For Kids' Sake is an annual
fundraising program for Big Brothers Big Sisters where you
can be a bowler, a team captain, a sponsor, or all three.
When you bowl for us, you get to enjoy a fun outing with friends,
family, and colleagues and help us in our most important
annual fundraiser. This year's Bowl For Kids' Sake will
be held on April 30, 2004, but it's not too early to sign
up as a bowler, sponsor, or team captain! More
